Vytorin

Vytorin (ezetimibe and simvastatin) is a drug that combines two active ingredients, both of which have distinct cholesterol-lowering properties. This medicine can lower bad cholesterol in the blood preventing the development of serious diseases such as heart disease and vascular disease. You are not supposed to be taking this medicine if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to any of the ingredients, or have liver disease. Remember that taking Vytorin is associated with following a whole new lifestyle – you will be required to avoid eating food high in fact and cholesterol exercise regularly and of course take this medicine as prescribed. This is the only way for you to benefit from the treatment and get the results you need. Make sure you inform your doctor of the following health conditions that may actually affect the dose you are prescribed: muscle disorder, underactive thyroid, diabetes, and kidney disease. Any other health conditions you have can be also mentioned, but those are most important ones. This drug is FDA pregnancy category X. It is not supposed to be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as serious birth defects are possible. Your health care provider will recommend using reliable contraception methods – make sure you follow the recommendations to avoid serious health effects in your child. Children younger than 10 are not supposed to take this drug at all. If your child needs his kind of treatment and is younger than 10 – talk to your health care provider about the options there are. The following medicines are especially important to mention: oral steroids, amiodarone, HIV medicines, verapamil, niacin, danazol, blood thinners, digoxin, hormonal pills, gemfibrozil, cholestyramine, cyclosporine, and nefazodone. Constipation, dizziness, joint pain, diarrhea, memory problems, headache, numbness or tingling, runny or stuffy nose, insomnia, cough, and back pain are some of the minor side effects you may get while using Vytorin. You do not have to report them unless they get severe and last for too long.
